Torsional Vibration? What is it? Without calling on an engineer, we can tell you that all engines emit a certain amount of torsional vibration at a given RPM range. It is a function of frequency but slightly more complicated. The symptoms may be as subtle as a harmonic ring or as devastating as an exploding driveline. Because newer engines are lighter and produce more torque per pound than their grandfathers did, torsional vibration problems are becoming more prevalent throughout the industry. Although there are numerous ways to confront this problem, we favor the HQ coupler. We've seen how many hours of life it will yield; and we've seen the drivelines running behind them. Suffice it to say, investing in a HQ torsional vibration coupler will save money long term and protect both your engine and the system it is driving. HQ couplers are designed to bolt up to the SAE flywheels shown below, or when necessary, to a fixed companion flange. If you have an automotive style flywheel, you will need it machined or an adapter plate made. Of course we do both! |

| CAUTION! The driveline connected to any HQ coupler should be installed at minimum angles. Any angular misalignment or offset will dramatically reduce the service life of the coupler. | |||||||||||

| Above is an example of incorporating the HQ coupler into any drivetrain system where a companion flange can be used. This means mounting to a round bore input shaft or a standard splined shaft presents no difficulty whatsoever. |
